What information we collect

If you donate: your name, email address, postal address (for Gift Aid claims), payment information (processed securely by our payment providers, Stripe and GoCardless), and donation history.

If you apply to become a Country Ambassador: your name, contact details, location, profession, age range, connection to Jamaica, social media handles, professional background, personal statement responses, and reference contact details.

If you submit a volunteer enquiry: your name, email, location, area of interest, and any additional information you share.

If you contact us directly: any information you include in your message.

If you visit our website: limited technical information via cookies.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Information relating to individual children participating in our programmes is collected and held by participating schools and our Programme Coordinator in Jamaica, in line with our Safeguarding Policy, kept separate from donor and supporter records.

Who we share your information with

Stripe and GoCardless (payment processing); referees you provide, solely to verify applications; our Programme Coordinator, Designated Safeguarding Officer, and partner schools in Jamaica; statutory agencies in Jamaica where required under our Safeguarding Policy; regulatory bodies such as the Charity Commission or HMRC where legally required.

How long we keep your information

Donor/Gift Aid records: minimum 6 years (HMRC requirement). Ambassador/volunteer applications: duration of role plus a reasonable period, or deleted if unsuccessful. Safeguarding records: minimum seven years. General enquiries: only as long as necessary.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR: access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, consent withdrawal, and data portability. Contact info@1-1coco.org; we respond within one month. Complaints can also go to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
